If you are a student looking to make an impact with your ideas, keen on developing your digital mindset and digital skillset, or excited to apply this new, award-winning NX software to sustainable design the Immersive Design Challenge is for you!
Siemens is dedicated to empowering today’s students with the tools and skill set needed for their role in the workforce of tomorrow. Siemens has partnered with Sony to introduce a new Immersive Engineering solution combining the Sony XR head-mounted display with Siemens NX Immersive Designer software.
They are challenging teams of students to imagine how you would use immersive design with the Sony XR head-mounted display, to make a product of your choice more sustainable. The product can be something you are already working on yourself, something you are working on in class, or something completely new.
This partnership driving collaboration and innovation is enabling today’s most comprehensive digital twin.

The finalists will be among the first in the world to work with the Sony XR head-mounted display/NX Immersive Designer either on campus or atSiemens. The winning team’s university will receive a Sony XR head-mounted display as well as one-year NX Immersive Designer license.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students worldwide enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD program thru March 2025, in any discipline.
- At least 1 team member with great CAD/NX skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team to create a successful entry.
- Teams should comprise 3 to 5 students with diversity of all kinds encouraged for a high performing team.
- Passionate about sustainability and keen to learn sustainability skills.
