Youth Innovation EXPO,” the world’s largest global pitch contest for students at the Osaka Kansai Expo, is a unique opportunity for young innovators to shape the future with their ideas.

The challenge is an initiative organized and managed by the Student Expo Project Team Asunowa of Cultural Capital Creation Research Co., Ltd. 

Purpose

  • The purpose of the Challenge is to submit a work that utilizes creativity and planning skills in response to the theme, “Creating a brighter future for the Earth with the power of young people.”

Presentation Themes

  • Choose 6 of the 8 themes for the Osaka-Kansai Expo!
  • Participants will choose one of the six presentation topics and give a presentation:
    • Cultural co-creation for the future
    • Future Community and Mobility
    • The future of food and life
    • Health and Wellbeing
    • Learn and Play
    • The Future of the Earth and Biodiversity

Prizes

  • Regional Tournaments:
    • Winner:
      • The winning teams or individuals from each regional tournament will be invited to compete in the main tournament to be held at the Osaka, Kansai Expo on July 19, 2025.
      • Travel expenses will be covered according to rules set by the organizers separately. For example, the number of invitees will be limited to three per team, the seats on the plane for travel will be economy class, and the organizers will arrange accommodation for two nights before and after the tournament. 
  • Main event (July 19, 2025. Osaka , Kansai official venue ” EXPO  Messe”):
    • Grand Prize
    • Certificate and prize
    • Opportunities for collaboration and mentoring with partner companies
    • Presentations at various pavilions at the Osaka Kansai Expo, etc.
    • Excellence Award
    • Certificate and prize
    • Special Awards (Partner Company Awards, etc.)
    • Certificate of commendation
    • Special prizes and mentoring opportunities from partner companies

Eligibility Criteria

  • This challenge is open to those who meet all of the following conditions:
    • Be a high school student, vocational school, technical college, junior college, university, or graduate school student, researcher, etc.
    • Before starting a business or within one year of starting a business
    • After passing the first round of screening, you will be able to participate in each pitch contest.
    • Agree to the event participation terms and conditions
  • The eligibility requirements are as follows:
    • Students can participate as individuals or teams.
    • You may be asked to show proof of enrollment, such as a student ID card.
    • As a general rule, participants are not allowed to belong to multiple teams (unless otherwise permitted by the organizers).

Ineligibility Criteria

  • Employees of the challenge organizers/operators, their families, and affiliated companies are not eligible to apply or participate unless expressly permitted by the organizers.
  • Participation is void for residents of any country or region prohibited or restricted by law.
  • If any affiliation with anti-social forces is discovered, your eligibility to participate will be immediately revoked, regardless of the reason.
  • High school students will need parental consent to participate. Without parental consent, they will not be able to participate.

  • Participants must complete their registration by the deadlines listed below:
    • In Japan:
      • West Japan Tournament ① in Kyoto: Sunday, March 16, 2025 (24:00 Japan time)
      • Others: Thursday, May 8, 2025 (24:00 Japan time)
    • Overseas: Friday, March 14, 2025 (24:00 Japan time)
  • This may be subject to change depending on the schedule of each regional tournament.
