The Oficinas Do Convento with its Creating the Visual Identity Grant Program is inviting innovative and bold contributions from the most diverse fields of contemporary artistic creation, both nationally and internationally.

They seek to enrich the event with new perspectives and forms of creation and design. The visual identity of Cidade Preocupada should reflect the irreverent and creative spirit of the event in how it (pre)occupies public space, exploring creation in its many forms from painting and sculpture to music, performance, theater, video, and electronics occupying public space with proposals that challenge the conventional. Artistic (pre)occupation in spaces, with a focus on the interaction between the public, the artists, and the proposals: 

  • The diversity of artistic expressions, from visual and performative arts to music, installations, and community activities. 
  • Challenging the conventional and promoting innovative and bold art
  • The appreciation of local roots (history, architecture, culture, etc.).

Prize Information

  • The three best proposals will receive cash prizes, as follows: 
  • 1st place
    • Will receive a total of €1000 prize.
    • The winner will receive €200 at the time of selection and the remaining €800 after delivery of the event’s complete visual identity material.
  • 2nd and 3rd places
    • Will receive Prizes of €100 each, in recognition of the quality and creativity of the proposals presented.

Eligibility Criteria

  • This call is open to all artists, designers, illustrators and other creators (no age limit), national or foreign.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
    • Relevance to the theme of the event 
    • Originality and creativity 
    • Suitability for various formats of dissemination (print and digital) 
    • Aesthetic coherence and clarity of visual communication

Application Requirements

  • The candidate selected for 1st place will be responsible for creating the visual identity of the event, together with the communications team, and for developing the following pieces:
    • Official poster of the event Formats: A3 (print) and versions adapted for digital platforms; 
    • Banners for Social Media Dimensions suitable for Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms, including: Facebook Cover: Posts and Stories for Instagram, Digital Ads (various formats) 
    • Flyers and Leaflets Printed and digital formats, with a version adapted for online distribution. 
    • Event Schedule Design for the event schedule/program, in printed and digital versions (PDF and social media formats) 
    • Elements for the Website Images and graphics adapted for the event page on the website. 
    • Signage and Plaques for the Event Signage design for the physical spaces of the event (banners, billboards, etc.). 
    • Promotional Images for Press Creation of promotional materials for sending to the press, including high-resolution versions.
