The scientifyRESEARCH is pleased to announce the Climate and Health Science Communication Award, an opportunity for all climate and health researchers worldwide to showcase their research to the general public and be in to win three prizes to further their science communication efforts.

Climate and health research is a broad area that intersects multiple academic disciplines, involving environmental science, public health, medicine, social sciences, engineering and more. They have an inclusive definition of “climate and health” in this Science Communication Competition. 

Focus Areas

  • They welcome all topics at the intersection between climate and health, including but not limited to:
    • Climate Change and Mental Health
    • Air Quality and Respiratory Health
    • Vector-Borne Diseases
    • Sustainable Healthcare Systems
    • Health Impact Assessment of Climate Policies

Topics

  • Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
    • Behavioral Change and Public Health
    • Community-Based Interventions
    • Green Healthcare Practices
    • Sustainable Diets
    • Active Transportation
    • Home and Workplace Energy Efficiency

Award Benefits

  • Three award winners will be selected:
    • One prize winner/winning team will receive 4,000 EUR for further science communication support and a personal prize of 1000 EUR. 
    • The other two finalists will receive 500 EUR each.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The competition is open to climate and health researchers worldwide. 
  • Applicants must be:
    • Affiliated with reputable academic research institutions/universities worldwide
    • Author/s  of the recently published, peer-reviewed scientific article on which the essay is based
  • The institutions must not be situated in countries or territories currently subject to embargoes by the UN, USA, or the EU.
  • Applicants may choose to enter the competition independently or as part of an author team. If entering as a team, all authors entering the competition must also be authors of the scientific article on which the essay is based. All authors must nominate one bank account in a non-embargoed country to receive the prize money.
