The Daniele Tamagni Foundation is inviting applications for the Daniele Tamagni Grant to bring together material and intellectual resources to address the creation of a long term value programme focused on photography, photojournalism and education.
The Grant is addressed to emerging photographers whose work engages with the African continent or its diaspora, without restrictions in terms of the applicant’s nationality.
Daniele Tamagni (1975-2017) was born in Milan and graduated in Art History. He elevated his passion for photography to a professional dimension in 2007, when he received the Canon Young Photographer Award, then followed by the ICP Infinity Award in 2010 and the World Press Photo Award in 2011.
Funding Information
- The winner of the open call will receive a one year scholarship.
- The scholarship includes:
- One year tuition fee to attend the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography Programme (PDP) at The Market Photo Workshop, in Johannesburg ZA, from end January 2025 to early December 2025.
- A/R in Economy class flight to and from the place of residence to Johannesburg ZA.
- A monthly bursary of 700 EUR for accommodation, meals and local transport for the length of the Scholarship (12 months), plus Health Insurance.
- The selected participant will have the opportunity to present their new body of work, created during the yearly course, at Africa Foto Fair 2025, held in Abidjan in November/Decem.
What can be submitted?
- They only accept images in jpg format. Applicants can send bodies of work of any kind (fine art, conceptual, etc.), but must be keen to pursue photojournalism or documentary photography.
Who can apply?
- The Grant is addressed to emerging photographers whose work engages with the African continent or its diaspora, without restrictions in terms of the applicant’s nationality.
- Applicants must be over 18, with less than five years of professional experience.
- An adequate proficiency of English is required to benefit from the lectures and the reviews.
