The Japan Water Forum Fund is inviting applications to help solve local water-related issues in developing countries by assisting in the implementation of sustainable solutions led by grassroots organizations.

The JWF Fund aims to contribute to the solution of local water-related issues in developing countries by assisting in the implementation of sustainable solutions led by grass-roots organizations.

Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene play a vital role in preventing infectious diseases, including COVID-19, so they will greatly appreciate any proposals for water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects, just as they did last year.

Funding Information

  • Up to US$1,500 per project 
  • In JWF Fund 2024, around five projects will be funded.
  • One application/project per group will be accepted

Eligible Projects

  • Projects of the following types will be considered:
    • Construction or repair of a water supply resource, such as a well and reservoir
    • Installation of a small-scale water supply system
    • Construction or repair of sanitation and hygiene facilities
    • Maintenance/improvement of a water resource environment
    • Installation or promotion of a water-efficient irrigation system
    • Implementation of a water-related disaster risk mitigation program

Eligibility Criteria

  • Any active local grassroots organization working in a country or territory classified as a Least Developed Country (LDC), Low Income Country (LIC), Lower Middle-Income Country (LMIC) according to the OECD’s DAC list can apply for the JWF Fund.
  • National governments, local governments, private companies, funding institutions, international organizations, and religious groups cannot apply for the fund.
